Semarang is becoming more well-known as a tourism destination in Indonesia, especially in the Central Java region, while not having the same fame as Yogyakarta. It is Central Java's capital and home to many undiscovered treasures. Because the area seems to be split into two parts with distinct qualities, you can choose a place based on your preferences. If you like history, you shouldn't miss the Old Town neighborhood. But if you're looking for a more serene environment with a beautiful natural landscape, higher up is the place for you.

Lawang Sewu

The magnificent Dutch colonial structure, whose name translates to "thousand doors," was formerly well-known for being haunted. Even though it has a mysterious past, this site is well-maintained and a must-see for everyone interested in Dutch colonial history and those who wish to test their fears. In addition to being incredibly picturesque, Lawang Sewu's story combines several different narratives. Lawang Sewu is a historical and architectural landmark in Semarang that should not be missed. Overall, people travel to Lawang Sewu to take in the distinctive European-style buildings that tell them the history of the nation's struggle for independence, leaving them with a bittersweet feeling and a sense of patriotism.


Sam Poo Khong Temple

One of the famous tourist destinations in Semarang is the Sam Po Kong Temple, located on Jalan Simongan Raya, West Semarang. This 3.2-hectare temple features complex Chinese and Javanese architecture from the 14th century. An annual festival is always held at the Sam Poo Kong Temple, where statues are paraded along the road, starting from Jalan Lombok (Chinatown) to ending at the pagoda. The goal is to have blessings and prosperity throughout the year. The temple serves as a place for spiritual and religious desire while also serving as a memorial to Cheng Ho's volunteer work.


Protestant Church in Western Indonesia Immanuel

Built in 1753 in the city of Semarang, the Blenduk Church in the Old Town, or Kota Tua  Semarang, is renowned for being the oldest Protestant Church in Central Java. Among many other ancient structures in Semarang, Blenduk Church stood out as the Old Township's landmark because of its distinctive design, rich history, and grandeur. It provides a beautiful space for worship for the local Christians. But it also serves as a getaway for people who enjoy history and photography.
